''Bic leapt over the bar, landing hard on his feet. He cried out, realising he'd probably broken the right one. He toppled sideways, managing to hold on to his gun. He pushed himself up with his hands, noticing someone else had taken refuge here, too.

He didn't know the other man, but with one glance exchanged they both knew they were on the same side. It was written all over their faces: the inevitability.
